Pickerel Lake is off the beaten path, but known to many locals. It’s a great lake to walk/run around because there are dirt paths to follow around the lake. The parking area is gravel and plenty big, but there are no bathrooms or picnic area. The boardwalk is very long and allows for several opportunities for fishing. Some spots are better than others and you probably won’t get a catch from midday until late afternoon, so come early or come late. No matter your fishing experience, you’ll have a great time and enjoy this beautiful lake. Even a 3 year old might get lucky with a little pole bobbing it’s lure up and down off the boardwalk. It is safe for little ones, but you still have to watch them carefully. There is some wildlife there including a few swans and other native birds and their nests. The walk along the lake is peaceful and relaxing. There are few benches along the way, so bring a snack and coffee and enjoy the view while you rest. Don’t wander off the path because there may be poison ivy. You’ll definitely enjoy some time at Pickerel Lake and make lasting memories that will make you want to return again and again.
